Day 01 : Arrive Kolkata

Arrival at Kolkata airport. Meeting & assistance on arrival and transfer to the city hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 02: Kolkata

After breakfast, proceed for a full day city tour visiting the below mentioned places (08 Hrs., 80 Kms)

Day 03: Kolkata to Guwahati - Drive to Kaziranga National Park

In time departure transfer to city airport to board a flight for Guwahati.

Arrival at Guwahati airport, on your arrival meet your guide and drive towards Kaziranga National Park (Approx Distance: 250 Km) - an UNESCO World Heritage Site and famed to the home of One Horned Rhino also considered as hotspot for many birds such as the Kalij Pheasant, Grey Peacock Pheasant, Fulvous Whistling-duck, Lesser Whistling-Duck, Greater White-fronted Goose, Bar-headed Goose, Ruddy Shelduck, Common Shelduck, Cotton Pygmy-goose, Gadwall Anas, Falcated Duck, Spot-billed Duck, Northern Shoveler. Upon arrival check into the hotel.

Day 04: Kaziranga National Park - Full Day City Tour

Approx Distance: 37 Km • Est. Travel Time: 1 hour

Early morning we shall go for an elephant ride - Elephant ride is the best way to behold the vigor and charm of the enchanting wildlife of the park. Return to the resort for your breakfast. Mid-morning explore the Kaziranga Orchid center. Afternoon we will go for a jeep safari in the Western range of the National Park.

Day 05: Kaziranga to Jorhat - transfer via majuli

Approx Distance: 250 Km • Est. Travel Time: 3 hours

Today we start the day towards Majuli Island – assumed to be the largest River Island in the world, which also stands as the cultural capital of Assam ever since the 16th century. We will use a ferry to cross a short bit of the Brahmaputra River and reach the island. a separate vehicle will be used for the day. Majuli Island is located on the river Brahmaputra in Assam and is formed by Brahmaputra in the south and the Kherkutia Xuti joined by the river Subansiri in the north. Making you feel at peace with nature, it is home to many migratory birds. Located 1100 km away from the mouth of the Brahmaputra, Majuli had an area of 1256 sq km in 1991 but due to soil erosion, it has now reduced to 875 sq km. Majuli has been the cultural capital of the Assamese civilization since the 16th century and its main village, Naghmar, hosts all the important events, festivals and prayers. A good learning center for neo-Vaishnavite philosophy, there are 22 Vaishnava Satras in the city, the first of which was established in the 15th century by Sankaradeva, the father of Assamese culture.

Day 06: Jorhat to Dibrugarh - Transfer via Sibsagar

Approx Distance: 140 Km • Est. Travel Time: 4 hours

After breakfast check out from the hotel and head towards Dibrugarh the historic and tea capital – Dibrugarh. The place also gained a name in the history of becoming the air force station for the US Army during the 2nd World war. Apart from this, the place is also famous for oil and natural gas reserves. En-route stop to visit heritage at the capital of Assam and ancient Ahom kingdom capital and visit the Shiva Dol built by the Ahoms, situated here is believed to be the tallest of all existing Hindu temples. Followed by a visit to Rang Ghar - largest and the oldest Amphitheatre of Asia is also another remarkable landmark in the history of Sivasagar. Later visit Talat Ghar –has three stores that are underground (closed for tourists) and four above the ground. The ground floor had store rooms, stables and servant quarters, while the upper floors were for the royal family. (May remain closed during State/Central Govt. Holidays).

Day 07: Dibrugarh to Mon - Transfer

Est. Travel Time: 7 hours

Drive to Mon via Sonari. On arrival in Mon visit the local police station for foreign registration. Mon in Nagaland which is the home of the fascinating Konyak Tribe, who are known for their tattooed faces, wood carving skills, and gun-making. Here you can find excellent wood carvings, daos (machetes), guns, gunpowder, head brushes, headgear, necklaces, etc. made by these artisans and craftsmen. Konyaks are the largest tribe among Nagas, and speak the local language, Nagamese. They have embraced Christianity and now, Christianity has become the cohesive bond between the Nagas, who, earlier were at constant fight with each other, one who had the maximum skulls of his enemies being considered the mightiest and most powerful. Konyaks still decorate their houses with skulls, hornbill beaks, elephant tusks, horns and wooden statues. Walk around the local bazaar and settle down in your resort.

Day 08: Mon to Mon - Sightseeing

Today, wake up early in the morning, freshen up and enjoy your breakfast and get ready to visit the chief's house in Shangnyu village. The chief's house is the major attraction of the village. The tribal people have their traditional chief called the Angh, you can witness many memorial stones outside the Chief's house. The house is adorned with wood carvings with an uplifting wooden entrance. The Indo-Myanmar border passes from this village dividing the chief's house into two halves, one of which is in India and the other half is in Myanmar. The Angh of this village has authority on both sides of the border. Later in the evening return to your hotel to relax.

Day 09: Mon to Mokokchung - Transfer

Morning drive to Mokokchung-Ao tribes via Wakching village. Mokokchung is the cultural nerve-center of the Ao people and is economically and politically the most important urban center in northern Nagaland. In fact it is the third most important urban hub in all of Nagaland after Dimapur and Kohima. Mokokchung is particularly noted for its extravagant Christmas, New Year, Moatsu and Tsungremong celebrations. Historically, Mokokchung was one of the first Naga Hills sites where the Assam Rifles, led by Britishers, established their outposts (then called stockades) in the later part of the 19th century. Much of the town initially grew around this post located in the DC Hill. The British administration was then gradually extended eastwards towards the remoter parts of the Naga Hills. On arrival visit the surrounding area of Mokokchung. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Mokokchung - Sightseeing

Morning visit Mokokchung and nearby villages. Visit the villages of Impur, Mopungchuket, Chungtia and Aliba. Observe the lifestyle of the Ao Tribe, visit their homes and learn more about their customs. At Aliba, you will see the biggest log drum of Nagaland.

Day 11: Mokokchung to Kohima - Transfer

Morning visit Ungma village (second largest village of Nagaland) & Longkhum village before we drive ahead to Kohima-Capital of Nagaland. Kohima is the hilly capital of India's north eastern border state of Nagaland which shares its borders with Burma. Kohima is the land of the Angami Naga tribe. The name, Kohima, was officially given by the British as they could not pronounce the Angami name Kewhima or Kewhira (Tenyidie for "the land where the flower Kewhi grows''). It is named after the wild flowering plant Kewhi, found in the mountains. Earlier, Kohima was also known as Thigoma. The town of Kohima is located on the top of a high ridge and the town serpentines along the top of the mountain ranges as is typical of most Naga settlements.

Day 12: Kohima to Hornbill Festival - Local Sightseeing

Approx Distance: 15 Km

Post breakfast we will drive to Kisama Village where the Hornbill Festival is celebrated. Full day explore & enjoy the great festival. You can enjoy the songs, dances & lots of performances by the local tribal people. For lunch enjoy the delicious local cuisine made by the local Naga tribes. Evening return back to Kohima.

Day 13: Kohima to Khonoma - Day Trip

Approx Distance: 22 Km • Est. Travel Time: 1 hour

After breakfast visit the War Cemetery and Naga Heritage Village. Later on excursion to Khonoma and back (22 kms 1 hour approx. one way) Khonoma: The village and forest walks will unfold the unique culture and heritage of the village as well its strong environmental initiatives. Enjoy the warm, local hospitality of the Western Angamis in their homes in the picturesque and terraced Khonoma village.

Day 14: Kohima to Dimapur Airport - Transfer
